Alan has taught graphic design at Darlington since 2005. Alan holds a B.S. in Graphic Design from Samford University, where he won team and individual conference championships as a member of the track and cross country teams, and is a current school record holder in multiple events. He also has an M.A. in Leadership from Shorter University. A two-time Darlington Coach of the Year and two-time Rome News-Tribune Coach of the Year, Alan is head coach of the cross country and the track and field teams. Under his leadership, the girls’ cross country team secured a state title in 2010 and have won seven straight region titles. Previously, he coached varsity swimming and diving and Middle School cross country at Darlington, and started a youth sports camp in Kiev, Ukraine. He and his wife, Jessica, are the parents of Sam (’26), Maylin and Paige. They live on campus and Alan is a member of the Summerbell House duty staff.

Fields ('15) wins second state title, first state track championship

Darlington senior Spencer Fields took home the coveted Class AA state title in the 3,200-meter run on Friday at the Georgia High School Association state track and field meet in Jefferson, Ga. The championship marks his second state title of the year after winning his first at the Class AA state cross country in November.

Cross Country at Marist Double Dip

September 7, 2013
The girls' cross country team placed 7th and the boys were 8th out of 30 teams in the Marist Double Dip Invitational. Both were the top Class A school, and only finished behind Class AAAA, AAAAA, and AAAAAA schools. The girls' were led by Stephanie Ward's 9th place finish. Spencer Fields medaled in 20th place, and Chandler Edge placed 6th in the freshman race.
