Dr. James Hutchins has been a member of Darlington’s faculty since 2002. Prior to being named director of the PK-8 program in 2012, he held the roles of Middle School division director, Middle School associate director, Middle School dean of studies and science teacher. He holds a B.S. from Shorter College, an M.S. from Jacksonville State University, and an Ed.D. and Ed.S. from the University of Alabama. He and his wife Renee, Lower School learning specialist, are the parents of Jordan (’12) and Katie (’15).

Darlington to move all grades onto one campus, sell Lower School property to Shorter

Darlington School has announced plans to move grades PK-4 to the main campus at the end of the current school year and sell its property on Shorter Avenue to Shorter University. The trustees of both institutions approved the agreement unanimously this afternoon.

Darlington launches progressive early childhood education program

January 29, 2013
Darlington School will offer an innovative and more customized approach to early childhood education, beginning in 2013-14. Students who would traditionally enroll in pre-k, kindergarten or pre-first will instead be part of Darlington’s Early Learning Academy, a progressive program in which instruction is based on the students’ individual needs.
