The sixth-grade journey to Florida was filled with discovery, adventure, and unforgettable moments. The trip began in historic St. Augustine, where students enjoyed beach time along the Atlantic coast, toured the Spanish Military Hospital, explored the charming shops of the historic district, experienced a nighttime ghost tour, and walked the storied grounds of Castillo de San Marcos.
From there, the group traveled to Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center, where learning came vividly to life. Students stood beneath the Space Shuttle Atlantis, met an astronaut who flew aboard Atlantis, and experienced the awe of seeing the Artemis II SLS rocket poised on Launchpad 39B in anticipation of its March 6 launch.
The adventure continued with an early morning manatee boat tour in Crystal River, offering a close look at Florida’s gentle marine wildlife, before concluding with an exploration of the stunning formations inside Florida Caverns.
It was a week that blended history, science, nature, and shared memories, an experience the sixth graders will carry with them long after returning home.
