You may have already heard, but our very own World Languages Department Chairwoman Yensen Lambert and her dance partner, Craig Bing of Floyd HomeCare, were the Judges' Choice WINNERS of the 2013 Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge for the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA last weekend! They scored three perfect 10s and a 9 to take home the mirror ball trophy.
Yensen and the other participants -- which also included current Darlington parent Amie Sabourin and parent of alumni Dr. Buford Harbin ('63) -- raised more than $80,500 for the Sexual Assault Center through this event!
As president of the SAC Board of Directors, I am especially proud of and grateful for Yensen's participation, but I also think it speaks volumes about our Darlington Community and the fact that the expectation of "service beyond self" is embraced by our faculty (as well as our students!)
Here at Darlington, "Service beyond Self" is more than a stanza of our motto. It is infused in the daily lives of our students and faculty members, allowing us to connect with our community in meaningful ways. These acts of servant leadership extend far beyond our gates, and it is our hope that "Service beyond Self" is an ideal that will remain in the hearts of our students long after they graduate.

Please congratulate Yensen when you see her. She has used her talent to benefit the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA for the past three years and is the only instructor to have won both the Judges' Choice AND the People's Choice trophies (she and local orthodontist Dr. Joe Vargo won People's Choice in 2012!)
