Congratulations to the following Middle School Jazz Band students who were selected for GMEA's District VII Middle School Honors Jazz Band: eighth-grader Sameer Elkhatib on tenor saxophone, seventh-grader Charlie Cowan on drum set, and seventh-grader Benson Wei on piano. These students traveled to Heritage High School (Ringgold, Ga.) Nov. 13-14, where they rehearsed alongside other talented, middle school jazz band musicians who were selected for the Honors group. Sameer, Charlie, and Benson worked very hard over the two days so that the group could present a concert at Heritage in the evening of Nov. 14. Darlington was represented very well by these three students, who placed highly within their respective sections. Sameer, Charlie, and Benson made a fantastic impression on the guest conductor. Our Middle School Jazz Band program is very proud of these three leaders!
