Need to know how to properly set a table? Not sure how to deal with a "Frankenguest?" Get ready for an evening of laughter, music and unforgettable advice from "advice-giver extraordinaire" Edwina Spoonapple! Darlington's fine arts department and the Pre-K to 8 Division is proud to present "Dear Edwina JR." April 24-26 in the Zelle Black Box Theatre. This lively musical brings together students across divisions in a joyful celebration of performance and collaboration, featuring 36 cast members in grades 3–8, six Upper School crew members, and a production crew of Darlington faculty members.
Dear Edwina JR. follows the charming and determined Edwina Spoonapple, who dreams of earning a spot in the Kalamazoo Advice-A-Palooza Festival. While her siblings proudly display their accomplishments "up on the fridge," Edwina is still searching for her moment to shine. When a talent scout visits her hometown of Paw Paw, Michigan, Edwina seizes the opportunity—presenting her own musical advice show live from her family garage. Through a series of hilarious and heartfelt musical numbers, she tackles everyday etiquette dilemmas with humor and heart.
"Dear Edwina JR. is a heartwarming show featuring witty musical lessons that explore courtesy and politeness, sure to have you laughing out loud," said Director of Curriculum and Instruction Melissa Smyly, who serves as the faculty director for the production. "At the heart of all this fun is a wonderful message about the importance of treating one another well and being true to yourself."
