The Soccer Academy students arrived at Darlington on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and wasted no time getting started. After completing move-in, parent meetings and uniform distribution, the players were ready to hit the field that same day. Morning practices began bright and early on Thursday at 7 a.m., setting the tone for a focused and disciplined season ahead.

After just four intense training sessions, the Academy launched into its first challenge—a preseason exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 16. The combined U17 and U19 squad took on Bryan College in sweltering conditions. Darlington held their own against Bryan College players who were five to six years older. After nearly two hours of play, the game ended in a 0-0 draw—a testament to the team’s resilience and early cohesion. With this strong foundation, the season ahead looks bright!

Building chemistry and showing promise, the team displayed impressive organization and teamwork against a seasoned collegiate opponent. These early signs of strength and unity are promising as the Academy prepares for an exciting journey in the MLS Next League. The Soccer Academy extends heartfelt thanks to parents, classmates and faculty for their incredible support this weekend.

Join us this weekend for two exhibition games on the Neville Soccer Fields — Saturday, Aug. 23 against Patedores Soccer Club-Nashville at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24 against Berry College at 1:30 p.m.
