Alumni Council welcomes nine new members, names Pollard president

The Alumni Council is pleased to announce that nine alumni have been elected to serve on the council for the next three years, and Izzy (Hortman) Pollard ('08, LD '15) has been named president of the Alumni Council.  

Izzy (Hortman) Pollard ('08, LD '15) has been named the president of the Alumni Council. She currently lives in the Boston, Mass., area and runs travel and event planning business Bespoke Events & Experiences after over 13 years in the sports events industry. Pollard was a day student from Rome who graduated from Auburn University. Her family connections to Darlington run deep, including her late father David Hortman (‘77), sister Katherine Hortman (‘10) and husband Beau Pollard (‘10, LD ’25).

New members include:

Will Coxwell ('98, LD '23) is a former resident student from Monroeville, Ala. He served on the Honor Council as a student and is a graduate of Leadership Darlington. After Darlington, he graduated from Rhodes College in 2002 and the University of Alabama School of Law in 2005. Coxwell currently works as an attorney with Coxwell & Coxwell Attorneys and is the municipal judge with the cities of Monroeville and Evergreen, Ala. 

Emily Hendrickson ('06, LD '25), a former resident student from Kentucky, now lives in Washington, D.C. As a student, she was involved with basketball, soccer and as a SOAR volunteer. Hendrickson went on to study sports management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was a student assistant with the two-time national champion Lady Vols basketball team under Coach Pat Summitt. She currently serves as chief of staff for Meta.

Andrew Lawrence ('03, LD '23) lives in Annandale, Va., and works as a submarine officer for the U.S. Navy. A former day student, Lawrence was involved in cross country, and recently participated in Leadership Darlington. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and received his MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School. 

Reagan (Lowrey) Lozar ('99, LD '22) was a day student who served in Student Government. After Darlington, she attended the University of Georgia and the University of Colorado-Boulder. She served previously as a class agent and has participated in Career Day and Leadership Darlington. Lozar operates an adventure travel business and lives in Helena, Mont., with her husband and four children.

Morgan (Pollard) Patel ('13, LD '24) was a day student from Rome who served on the Discipline Committee, participated in Concert Choir, was a member of the Cum Laude Society and has participated in Career Day and Leadership Darlington. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. and went on to earn her juris doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law. Patel currently lives in Atlanta, Ga., and is an attorney with McDermott Will & Emery. 

Katherine (Knight) Patterson ('08, LD '18) has recently returned to Rome after spending most of her career working in communications in Washington, D.C. She was a day student who was active as a cheerleader and member of the tennis team. After Darlington, Patterson attended the University of Georgia, earning a degree in international relations and affairs, before going on to Georgetown University to earn a master’s degree in public relations and corporate communications. She is currently vice president of communications for the International Franchise Association. Patterson has participated in Career Day and Leadership Darlington. 

Carol (Culpepper) Seal ('90, LD '24) was a resident student at Darlington and vice president of the National Honor Society. She went to Rhodes College where she earned a B.A. in English literature and is currently the CEO and executive vice president of Greater Chattanooga REALTORS. Seal serves as class agent and has participated in Leadership Darlington. She lives in Signal Mountain, Tenn. 

Chase Tolbert ('12, LD '23), a day student from Rome, was a scholar-athlete involved in football, wrestling, and track and field while serving as president of the Discipline Committee, a member of the Y-cabinet, and the National Honor Society. He went on to receive his B.S. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Mercer University. Tolbert taught math at Darlington before joining the family business Dempsey Auction Company, where he now serves as vice president of online sales. He has continued to stay active at Darlington helping with Senior Picnic, the Purple Tie Tiger Tailgate Auction and participating in Leadership Darlington. 

Oliver York ('98, LD '15) was a resident student who was active in athletics at Darlington. He went to the University of Mississippi and earned his BBA before going on to earn an MBA in Global Supply Chain and Operations Management. York works as a business transformation manager for Capgemi in Atlanta. He has stayed connected to Darlington by serving as a phonathon volunteer, attending events and participating in Leadership Darlington. He and his family live in Marietta, Ga.
