A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Jayden Lance, a seven-year day student from Rome, Ga., who wants to be a pilot.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?

Connections, friendships, opportunities

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“One Piece”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Blue Fin

What house are you a member of?
Moser

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Previously, Photography (9th grade) and Cinema (11th grade).

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
In Cinema, I really enjoyed the study of directors and films. It helped me form a new perspective on the world of film and how to look at specific things in movies such as narrative, cinematography, sound, acting, and editing.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus would be the library because I can choose to hang out with friends or work on homework during my free time and I like that kind of flexibility. Also the rooms to hang out in are a nice space to do so.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teachers this year would be both Mr.Kinney and Mr.Hudson because they have unique teaching styles compared to the other teachers and I genuinely enjoy being in their classes. They know how to make it interesting to learn and don't hold back from being themselves.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
Meeting students from around the world and getting to know about their experiences and interests.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
An experience that I've had at Darlington that I couldn't have had anywhere else would be being a part of a bigger community like Moser House and the RUMPUS celebration. From the two years I've been in Moser, I was able to support and participate in one way or another.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
One significant way I've grown since I first came to Darlington is the ability to make decisions. I had poor decision-making skills beforehand but over the seven years I've been at Darlington I had to make more and more decisions that have greatly and positively affected me as a result of.

What is your dream job?
To become a pilot.
