In 2015-16, Darlington celebrated the 100th anniversary of the student-created, student-led Honor Code and Honor Council. The school has since inaugurated the Honor Speaker Series to bring speakers to engage with students, faculty and staff; individuals who have demonstrated “Honor Above Everything” in both their personal and professional lives.
"One of Darlington’s founding cornerstones is integrity of both individual and community, which is embodied in the school's Motto: Wisdom More Than Knowledge. Service Beyond Self. Honor Above Everything," said Joe Montgomery, assistant head of school for strategic initiatives. "The Honor Speaker Series seeks to reinforce the historic ideal that Darlington students, faculty and staff have committed to living an honorable lives."

Dr. G.P. "Bud" Peterson is the eleventh president of the Georgia Institute of Technology. In this capacity, he oversees a top 10 public research university with more than 21,500 students. Throughout his career, Dr. Peterson has played an active role in helping to establish the national education and research agendas, serving on numerous industry, government, and academic task forces and committees.

Garland S. Tucker III has served as chairman and senior advisor of Triangle Capital Corp. since October 2006. Previously, he was group vice president of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and founder of Navigant International Southeast Inc. Tucker is the author of "The High Tide of American Conservatism: Davis, Coolidge, and the 1924 Election" and "Conservative Heroes: Fourteen Leaders Who Shaped America, from Jefferson to Reagan."

Ball III Former United States Secretary of the Navy Director of Governor's Defense Initiative William Ball held senior posts in the Reagan Administration, beginning as an assistant secretary of state under George Shultz in 1985. He moved to the White House staff in 1986 as President Reagan’s chief lobbyist and liaison to Congress. After two years in that capacity, he was nominated by President Reagan and confirmed by the Senate to become the 67th Secretary of the Navy in 1988. |

Blind by the age of 13, Erik Weihenmayer had become the only blind person to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. He later co-founded No Barriers to help people with challenges to turn into the storm of life, face barriers head on, embrace a pioneering and innovative spirit, and team up with great people to live rich in meaning and purpose.

March 23, 2017 9:10 a.m. - Morris Chapel Dave Wottle Retired U.S. Olympian
A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Dave Wottle is a retired American middle-distance track athlete. He was the gold medalist in the 800-meter run at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. After athletics, he served as an administrator at Rhodes College until his retirement in 2012. Wottle will be the guest speaker for the school's annual Class of 1953 Lectureship, which was established by the class to celebrate their 50th reunion. |
