Darlington’s Advanced Placement courses provide opportunities for advanced specialized coursework and college credit. A score of 3 or higher (out of a possible 5) often means the student is eligible to receive college credit or waive required college courses in the subject covered by the AP exam.
- Darlington sophomores take AP World History, AP Chemistry and AP Languages; juniors take AP English Language, AP Sciences, AP U.S. History or AP Calculus. Seniors may choose from offerings including AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Government, AP Micro/Macroeconomics, AP English Literature, or AP Music Theory.
- In 2017, 221 Darlington students took a total of 570 AP exams; 71% of the exams were scored 3 or higher.
- During the 2016-17 school year, 98 Darlington students earned the designation of AP Scholar by The College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the AP exams. Forty were AP Scholars, 23 were AP Scholars with Honor, and 35 were AP Scholars with Distinction (five of whom were also designated National AP Scholars).
- All students taking an Advanced Placement class are required to take the AP Exam.
