Darlington School Soccer Academy seniors Emilio Abarca, Hannah Faber, Mimi Sarkodie, Brookie Wallace and Shelby Woolston signed to play college soccer during a ceremony in the Dodd Banquet Room on Wednesday.
This summer I attended the Women's US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program in Illinois, where I represented the state of Ohio. During camp I was able to play against talented players throughout the region. My hopeful pathway now is to make it to the national team and to follow in my brothers’ footsteps to one day play professional soccer.
I have been wondering what it felt like to be a high school student in this day and age. My current students seem to have fuller days than I did in the early 90s. In those days, taking more than one AP class was not common and there was always time to just be a teenager. I got my wish this month when I had the opportunity to shadow junior Mimi Sarkodie, a hard-working boarding student who is also a busy athlete.
Welcome to the first of many Darlington School Soccer Academy blogs! As you may know, we spent the weekend before Thanksgiving in North Carolina for the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) showcase, where we won two games and tied the third.
