Four members of the Darlington Community will take the stage in the 5th Annual Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Rome City Auditorium.
It has been about 12 years since I was a tenth-grader. Going back into the classroom after a six-year hiatus, was, in my mind, like starting over from scratch. Sophomore Emily Orr was more than happy to let me follow her around last Thursday, and like many of the other faculty members shadowing our students, I had no idea what was in store for me!
I have been wondering what it felt like to be a high school student in this day and age. My current students seem to have fuller days than I did in the early 90s. In those days, taking more than one AP class was not common and there was always time to just be a teenager. I got my wish this month when I had the opportunity to shadow junior Mimi Sarkodie, a hard-working boarding student who is also a busy athlete.
Early this summer, I visited the region of Galicia, Spain, as part of my Wood Faculty Professional Development Endowment Award field research on the city of Santiago de Compostela and pilgrimage on El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) in Northern Spain. Read more about it in my blog!
