Today was an unforgettable day of innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning for our fourth-graders! Ms. Watterson, Dr. Natarella and Leah Lynn took students to Berry College’s HackBerry Lab, where Zane Cochran guided us through an exciting tour of the state-of-the-art maker space. Students participated in several interactive activities; tested inventions, including a hoverboard; and even watched a metal laser cutter create special Tiger tokens for them to take home.
After enjoying a picnic lunch on the beautiful Berry College campus, students put their engineering skills to the test during the Darlington Derby! Over the past several days in math class, students researched, designed, built, tested, redesigned and problem-solved as they worked to create self-propelled cars. Working within specific design constraints, each car had to travel at least one meter without being pushed. Along the way, students experienced the true engineering process: experimenting, failing, revising and ultimately succeeding. We are so proud of their perseverance, creativity and teamwork!
