Third-graders began the year in math focusing on building numbers and counting on to share numbers created. They used place value blocks consisting of values with 1,000s, 100s, 10s, and 1s. For 4-place digit numbers, groups did not always have access to 1,000 blocks or 100 blocks, so they had to improvise and create numbers using only 10s and 1s. This was a great way to review skills from last yeat and build on new skills to start this year.
