This year's theme for the annual third-grade Community Project was "Recreational Opportunities for Young People in Rome and Floyd County." Over the course of two mornings we traveled around Rome and discovered where some of the our local recreational facilities are located and learned how they benefit our community. We went to the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College and the Downtown Tennis Center/Pickleball Courts, as well as several Rome/Floyd Recreation Department facilities: Gilbreath Center, Lock and Dam Park, Hugh Selman Baseball Complex, Thornton Center, Northside Swim Center, Gymnastics Center/Main Office, Riverview Baseball Complex, and Fielder Center. The YMCA building and Grizzard Park were also on our list of stops during the tour.
