Fourth-graders applied their understanding of the engineering design process by collaborating in groups to construct shelter prototypes prior to our annual Stranded Day. Once students learned about the various steps of the engineering design process, they applied their knowledge by gathering materials, brainstorming design ideas, building and testing their shelters. Once their shelters were completed, Dr. Natarella doused their products with water to test whether they could meet the criteria for protecting their figurine from the sun, wind and rain.
