Upon completion of a unit on circles and arcs, the Honors Geometry classes had the opportunity to create designs with parabolic curves intersecting math with art. The students used a coordinate plane stamped on the back of black cards to carefully sew patterns of straight lines. Students observed how adjusting the slopes of consecutive lines can be a uniform and efficient way to create smooth parabolic curves and arc designs.
