Fourth grade went to Mrs. Stinson's farm last week to pick cotton by hand. Mr. Stinson was ready with his mammoth cotton picker to pick the fluffy boles after the students gathered all their sacks and pockets would hold. They were amazed at how easily the cotton pulled away from the plant. Mrs. Stinson showed them how the "packer" mashed the cotton into a large bale. The students were able to climb up, by way of steps and a tire, to the cab of the cotton picker. We had a cotton pickin' good time!
