Darlington’s Board of Trustees elected one new member and two new life trustees at the May meeting.

Jarrett Shadday ('85, LD '18) is an entrepreneur who began his career in 1990 with D&D Oil Company, transforming it into Cowboys Food Mart, a 65-store, multi-state convenience and fuel chain with $500M in sales and 800+ employees before its sale in 2005. Since then, he has led and invested in multiple ventures, including River City Bank as the founder/director, real estate holdings, car washes, fast food restaurants, and shopping center partnerships with major anchors. In 2020, he founded Big Dan’s Car Wash, which has since grown to 27 locations across four states with plans to add six more sites by the end of the year. Shadday and his wife Holly split their time between Rome; Cashiers, N.C.; and Jupiter, Fla. They and their five children are all proud Darlington alumni.

"Jarrett Shadday is a great addition to the Darlington Board of Trustees," said Head of School Brent Bell. "He is an alum, spouse of an alum, and parent to five Darlington graduates, so his connection to the school runs deep. His creativity and thoughtfulness as a business leader will also serve us well."

Scott Dozier ('73) is senior vice president at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Atlanta. He served on Darlington’s Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2025, including a term as chairman of the Board, and has now been elected to serve as a Life Trustee. Dozier also served on the Atlanta Cabinet for the school’s historic Second Century Campaign and co-chaired the Board Division of the current Campaign. He was a boarding student during high school, as were his brothers, John Dozier (‘64) and Shep Dozier (‘69). He and his wife, Margaret, the daughter of Dick Denny (‘48), have two sons, Graham and Taylor, and a daughter, Maggie.

"As chair of the board, Scott Dozier led the school with empathy and collaboration," said Bell. "Of many accomplishments, his efforts to reopen the South Gate make his selection as Life Trustee obvious in the heart and minds of many Darlington alums. Darlington is grateful to Scott for his continued service."

Doug Hendrickson ('74) has been elected as a life trustee having served on the Board of Trustees previously from 2006-2012 and 2013-2026. He is president of Limestone Associates, a real estate and financial group based in his hometown of Maysville, Ky. and is a thoroughbred owner and breeder serving many years on the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Hendrickson has held the positions as both treasurer and finance committee chairman numerous times during his tenure on the Board of Trustees and was on the cabinet for the Second Century Campaign. He currently serves on the Alumni Division of the current Campaign. A boarding student for three years, Hendrickson followed his brothers, Tom ('70) and Bob ('71) to Darlington. He is married to Kathryn Hendrickson, RN, JD, and they have five daughters.

"Doug Hendrickson is one of Darlington's most loyal alumni, and his selection as a Life Trustee is richly deserved," said Bell. "Doug has been a consistent voice on the Board during my entire tenure, and our being able to keep his financial acumen, love of the school, and positive outlook involved with the Board is a gift to the school."

Retiring trustees included Gretchen Corbin and Doug Hendrickson.
