A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.
Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.
Let’s get to know Sophie Strickland, a four-year day student from Rome who is a member of the varsity tennis and basketball cheerleading teams.
When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
The three words that first come to my mind are opportunity, community, and unique.
What's your favorite show to binge watch?
Probably “Gilmore Girls”
What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Aventine has had some really fun homecoming and prom memories, so I'd say there.
What house are you a member of?
Regester!
What are you involved in?
I'm involved with tennis, basketball cheerleading, Spanish Club, the Inkslinger, Tiger Tutors, and the Student Activities Committee.
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
The tennis coaches. Mr. Tunnel, Mr. Liow, and Coach Craig have all been amazing coaches and are always super supportive, and they really care about the team.
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus would have to be the library. It's a great place to go to get work done, hang out with friends, or just relax.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
This is a near impossible question, but I'd say my favorite teacher would have to be Ms. Shores. Her class was always super engaging, and I loved learning about world history, and she's a super funny and supportive teacher.
What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
My favorite thing about Darlington would be the community. Not only my friends, but the teachers, coaches, and faculty too.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Rumpus! Especially lip sync. It's such a unique and special tradition, and something that I'll definitely always remember
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I feel like Darlington has helped me grow simply by letting me discover myself with my classes and activities.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is anything that involves helping people. I'd love to work in psychology and/or with athletes.
