Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: Olivia Lunsford

Alyssa Abrams | May 7, 2026 | 5 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Olivia Lunsford, a three-year boarding student from Columbus, Ga., whose favorite thing about Darlington is the close-knit community.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, Diversity, and Creativity

What song reminds you of high school?
“24K Magic” by Bruno Mars because every year during Rumpus one of the houses uses that song.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“The O.C.”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Aventine

What house are you a member of?
Thornwood

What are you involved in?
Girls' Varsity Tennis, Young Republicans Club, Advancement Ambassadors, and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Mr. Tunnell because he is always super uplifting during matches and is always fun to talk to.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The Thornwood porch because during the spring everyone will sit out there together.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Ms. Haynes because she was always very helpful in chemistry and would take extra time out of her day to help me.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The environment that surrounds Darlington. All of our sports teams have this super close bond that surrounds them and I think that this bond is definitely special to Darlington.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Rumpus. There is no other school that does an event like this and I believe it really helps to bring everyone back together after Christmas Break. Every year, I look forward to Rumpus and getting involved with everyone in the dorms.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I've become more outgoing and I have started to do things that I would've not been as comfortable 3 years ago.

What is your dream job?
A dermatologist

If you have already committed to a college, please let us know which one you will be attending.
The University of Georgia
