March is a month when steady habits shape strong outcomes. It is the time of year when character matters most. It is often easier to start strong than to finish strong. Finishing strong requires discipline when motivation dips, integrity when no one is watching, and resilience when outcomes are not what we hoped for. These qualities not only define successful students, but also help develop confident, capable contributors to their communities.
Growth is not always loud or immediately visible. More often, it is reflected in small daily decisions—choosing to study a little longer, encouraging a teammate, speaking up respectfully, or having the courage to try something new. As we move through this important stretch of the school year, we are encouraging our students to recognize the power of these choices and to stay focused on their goals.
At the same time, some growth is more visible in the way our students show up for one another. I have been especially encouraged by the spirit of support across our school community—our “Bleacher Creatures” bringing energy to basketball games, students cheering on their classmates during the winter musical, and the tremendous turnout at the Rome Emperors’ Advent Health Stadium to support our baseball team. Moments like these reflect pride, connection, and a sense of belonging that make our school community strong.
As we move closer to spring break and enter the final stretch of the school year, I encourage our students to be intentional with their time and finish with purpose. Take a moment to express gratitude to your teachers and to one another for the support and encouragement you receive each day. Continue to lift up your classmates throughout this second semester—your kindness, positivity, and leadership make a meaningful difference in our school community.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for the trust you place in our school. It is a privilege to work at a school with a strong, supportive community like Darlington School.
Enjoy your spring break!
