As October begins, we wrap up the fourth rotation of the schedule and near the end of the longest stretch without a break. By now, students and teachers are settled into a routine, and students have already completed their first tests, projects, and essays.
Faculty are challenging students to think critically and take ownership of their learning. We are here on this journey together and will walk alongside our students as they navigate academic challenges. Although we do not have a formal parent/teacher conference day, please know you can reach out for a teacher conference at any time.
One of the great traditions of Darlington is the Honor Book signing. All new students and faculty sign the Honor Book during the first chapel of the year. The signing is symbolic and a personal commitment to uphold the Honor Code: I will not lie, I will not cheat, I will not steal, I will not tolerate any dishonorable behavior by myself or others. It is more than a ceremony. It is a promise to themselves and the community.
The week of Sept. 29 through Oct. 3 is Parents for Purple, our annual week-long celebration of parent donors who give to The Darlington Fund - our top fundraising priority that supports every student, teacher and program on campus. Darlington wouldn’t be the same without our amazing parents! Your participation not only enriches the experience for our children but also demonstrates the strength of our community, which helps encourage additional support from others. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating and supporting Darlington this week by making a gift to The Darlington Fund at www.darlingtonschool.org/give.
Thank you for being part of what makes Darlington a supportive community. I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming events on campus.
