Seniors Grace Guo, Sophie Piller and Zach Kimani have been named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from Darlington School and the National Merit Scholarship Program will be presented to these students.
"We're incredibly proud of Grace, Zach and Sophie for receiving their Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program," said Director of Upper School Chad Woods. "Their hard work and dedication set a strong example for our school community."
Guo has taken one Honors and six AP courses at Darlington. She is currently enrolled in one AP course. Guo is a member of the varsity cheerleading team and is involved with the DarFarm.
Kimani has taken five Honors and eight AP courses at Darlington. He is currently enrolled in six AP courses. Kimani serves as president of the Discipline Committee, head boarding prefect of Moser House, and is a member of the Dar Tech Team, Servant Leadership Committee, Tiger Tutors, and varsity cross country and track and field teams.
Piller has taken seven Honors and seven AP courses at Darlington. She is currently enrolled in five AP courses. Piller serves as head day prefect of Regester House, features editor of the Jabberwokk yearbook, an Advancement ambassador, and is a member of the Y-Cabinet and Arts Council. Additionally, she competes on the varsity volleyball and tennis teams and serves as a volunteer ESP Camp, Camp Delightascope and her church.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top 3% students who entered the competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
