The first two weeks of school have been full of energy and excitement. As I walk through the halls, it is encouraging to see students catching up after a summer away and also meeting new peers from around the world. Thank you for helping set a positive tone at home and for trusting us with your children – it makes a big difference as we begin this school year together.
As we start this school year, I encourage students to take advantage of all the opportunities available to them. Whether it is joining a club, starting an iPeriod, trying out for an athletic team or fine arts performance, attending school events, or seeking help from a teacher during office hours, the best Darlington experiences come when students engage fully with the life of the school.
The Darlington Podcast is back this year with a new format, new ideas, and a new name. Head of School Brent Bell will host a series called “Conversations by the Lakeside.” The podcast is designed to be casual, engaging, and educational as Mr. Bell seeks to find connection, confidence, and compassion in our community. The first episode features Zach Kimani, a current senior, head prefect of Moser House, and president of the Discipline Committee. Click here to hear Zach’s Darlington journey. He exemplifies taking advantage of opportunities and engaging in the life of Darlington to gain the very best experience.
Episodes of “Conversations by the Lakeside” will be available at http://www.darlingtonschool.org/podcast. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcast platform.
We are excited to invite parents to a special training session on Toddle. The training will help parents become familiar with the platform, enabling them to better support their child’s journey. The session will include how to access assignments, track progress, and communicate with teachers. If you were unable to attend this past Thursday’s sessions, additional sessions will be offered in the Thatcher Hall Library on the following dates:
Tuesday, Sept. 2 - 8:15 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 9 - 3:45 p.m.
For those unable to attend any of the sessions, there will be a Toddle “cheat sheet” added to the Parent Portal that will be able to help you navigate the platform.
Thank you for your support. As always, my door is open. Please do not hesitate to reach out if I can support your student in any way.
Here’s to a great year ahead!
