Day #SeniorSpotlight: Garrett Kizziah

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Garrett Kizziah, a 14-year day student from Rome who says, “The [Darlington] community is engaging and full of great people, and the academics and activities are almost limitless.”

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, Home, Honor

What song reminds you of high school?
"Butterfly Effect” - Travis Scott

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Suits”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Moe's Southwest Grill
- burrito bowl
- chicken
- rice and black beans
- lettuce, pico, cheese
- sour cream and chipotle ranch

What house are you a member of?
MOSER

What are you involved in?
HOSA, Robotics, Golf Academy

Who is your favorite coach and why?
Mr. Kinney - He makes me think outside of the box when it comes to robotics, which is something I’m doing for the first time this year. I have really enjoyed him as a coach.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The student center and the science hall. The student center is a great place to speak with friends and get work done. I like the science hall because I have loved all of my science classes.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Hudson - he’s just a chill guy and has a way of teaching that makes his classes interesting.
Ms. Shores - AP US was really fun because she had a great sense of humor.
Ms. Haynes - Chemistry was one of my favorites because she made it easy to understand and the class was always good.
Mr. Leezer - He also has a great sense of humor and personality, which is why I liked Physics so much, and all of his iPeriods are great, too.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The environment at Darlington is something I’ll never forget. The campus is great with all kinds of great things to do. The community is engaging and full of great people, and the academics and activities are almost limitless.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
I don’t believe I would feel the same sense of engagement or be able to try something new comfortably anywhere else like I can at Darlington. Examples are RUMPUS, iPeriods, fine arts, the vast academic courses.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I have definitely grown in the way of finding new things to engage in because before, I would always steer away rather than embrace a new experience.

What is your dream job?
I haven’t quite figured that out yet, but being the owner of a company would be pretty cool.

If you have already committed to a college, please let us know which one you will be attending.
I haven’t decided yet, but my top two are UGA and Mercer.
