Let’s get to know Heidi Botwinik, a five-year day student from Dunwoody, Ga., whose Senior Ventures project involves teaching the community the importance of nutrition and fueling your body.

What song reminds you of high school?
“Galway Girl” - Ed Sheeran
What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City”

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Orchestra, Senior Ventures
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
I used to play basketball and my favorite coach was Mr. Tunnell. He always has jokes and gets you laughing. He would always lighten the mood.
If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
Orchestra is my favorite because of the fun music we play. Some examples were some songs from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and some songs from “The Nutcracker.”
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The Learning Center! It is welcoming and full of the kindest and funniest people always.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Luitwieler, Mr. Inman and Mrs. Kinney. Mrs. Luitwieler is my Learning Center teacher and college advisor. She has been a constant in my life at Darlington. Not only would she help me academically even by learning math, but she is always there supporting me daily from life questions to hanging out with me during iPeriod. Mrs. Luitwieler is the biggest treasure at Darlington waiting to be found. Mr. Inman is always so passionate about teaching and is such a great teacher he makes the topic interesting. Mrs. Kinney is my Senior Ventures mentor; she is always there for me and will move mountains to help me and support me.
What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
Connections - everyone is rooting for you and wants to help. The teachers pour so much time and effort into helping their students.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Bouncing between Mr. Allen and Mrs. Holst's offices over my years here. I would not have met them if I never went to Darlington.
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I have gotten to know myself more and have learned how to advocate for myself.
What is your dream job?
Owner of a CrossFit gym with physical therapy and therapist at the gym.
