Episode 67: A Chat with Austin Spooner (’12)

Welcome to Episode 67 of The Darlington Podcast! 

In this episode, Director of Alumni Relations Vicki Vincent chats with Austin Spooner ('12), Young Alumni Council president and class agent for the Class of 2012. As the first president of the new Young Alumni Council, Spooner shares about his work so far and goals for the group, who hosted its first young alumni social at Qualusi Vineyards in Acworth, Ga. last weekend. He also reflects on his experience as a Darlington student and why he continues to stay involved.

Vicki Vincent first joined the Advancement Office in 1995. Since then, she has held a variety of different roles including class agent officer and director of alumni relations. She is responsible for the development and management of alumni programs for Darlington, including the Alumni Council, the Class Agent Program and special events like Alumni Weekend. She and her husband, Jim, are the parents of alumni Dottie ('07) and Abby ('09) and Jamie ('10).

Austin Spooner ('12) was a two-year boarding student from Bainbridge, Ga. During his time at Darlington, he was involved in performing arts and served as head boarding prefect of Moser House. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and Government from Tulane University and went on to earn his Doctor of Law degree, also from Tulane. Spooner currently resides in New York City, where he is beginning his career in independent school advancement as the strategic engagement coordinator at The Chapin School.
