The first-graders hosted a few "school friends" at their Freedom Tea in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. The students recited facts about MLK's life and legacy and each student was given the name of another student to whom they would present a Nobel Peace prize. The students were all asked to write something on the back of the medal, that would speak to that child's character. The class also shared their own personal "I Have a Dream" wishes for making our world a better place. It was a great celebration that allowed the students to not only learn more about MLK, but to have a chance to reflect on his life and legacy.
