Senior Ventures Spotlight: Leah Grace Lambert

Leah Grace Lambert | December 1, 2020 | 91 views

The main focus of my Senior Ventures project is to educate people about depression. I will complete research and work with community and faculty mentors to produce a blog. The blog will include helpful information, therapeutic alternate activities, and a forum for questions and comments. This is for people to be able to reach out and maybe get the help they need without having to have face to face interaction.

I believe this is an extremely important topic. Several members of my family have and are struggling with depression, and one of my goals is to increase awareness. I plan on helping others who have been impacted or who are currently struggling. I will post on the blog biweekly, and Inspirational messages can be found across the page. #AskLeah and #TellLeah will also be available for anyone to either ask me questions that I will answer in videos or just to vent. I will eventually dig deeper into other mental health illnesses as well. I plan to create little signs to place around Darlington’s campus in hallways and bathrooms that spread positivity. My Darlington mentors are Mrs. Smyly and Mrs. Holst. Remember, you never know what someone is going through, so always be nice! Kindness goes a long way!

The Senior Ventures leadership program is a year-long senior project built on a framework of leadership, innovation, and community engagement. The topic and the project design are chosen by an individual student or a pair of students, and the journey is guided by Darlington faculty as well as mentors in the community. Most projects fall into one of the following categories: Investigation, Performance, Entrepreneurship, and Outreach. Candidates are selected according to proposal quality, feasibility, and commitment.
