Darlington School’s French and Spanish honor societies inducted new members during a ceremony held Monday, April 15 in Morris Chapel.
To be inducted into Société Honoraire de Français, students must be enrolled in the fourth semester of French or higher; be a sophomore, junior or senior; have maintained an A average in French during the semester of selection, as well as an averaged cumulative grade of A for all work awarded secondary school credit; and have maintained a B average or higher in all other subjects during the semester of selection, as well as an averaged cumulative grade of B in all other subjects awarded secondary school credit (French not included). Inductees included Nea Lepannen, Johanna Schoug, Tim Sparmann, Neal Yin, Gina Vieroff, and Alice Bangrover.
To be inducted into Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, students must have completed three semesters of Upper School Spanish; currently have an average of 90 or higher if enrolled in AP Spanish/Spanish III Honors/Spanish II Honors, or an average of 93 or higher if enrolled in Spanish IV/Spanish III /Spanish II the semester of selection; and have maintained an overall average of 90 or higher in all Spanish courses. Inductees are selected by a committee of language teachers based on their current teacher's evaluation and the student's current and future language experiences. Inductees included Alex Austin, Eli Baldwin, Kasey Barnett, Lauren Botwinik, Madeline Bradshaw, Cooper Cates, Trang Dang, Riccardo Frisiani, Gorden Gao, Lillie Lewis, Teagan Martin, Tenniya Martin, Cappie May, Rush Patel, Lily Porterfield, Sophie Stepp, Camille Temple, Gracie Temple, Grace Watters, Augusta Wayt, Ashlyn Woods, and Dana Yassin.
