Professional Development Spotlight: Apple Vanguard Training

Rebekah Kinney | September 28, 2016 | 1035 views

Thanks to the generous grant provided by the Thatcher Foundation, ten Darlington faculty members will have the opportunity to be compensated for earning their Apple Vanguard training.

In the Apple Vanguard program, educators participate in extended professional development delivered by an Apple Foundations Trainer. I was given the opportunity to earn an Apple Foundations Trainer Certificate at the Apple Academy in Cupertino, Calif., last fall. The program's purpose is to develop educators who can become additional resources in their school. The faculty members will work with me individually and in collaborative groups to become Apple Vanguard Certified.

A Vanguard member completes at least 12 hours of training on either the iPad or MacBook while learning the skills needed to teach and complete a product using the following applications:

iLife Applications:

  • iPhoto

  • iMovie

iWorks Applications:

  • Numbers

  • Keynote

  • Pages

  • iBooks Author

  • iTunes U Course Manager

The following 10 faculty members will be working throughout the 2016-17 to earn their Apple Vanguard Certification.

Stephanie Bradshaw

Once the faculty members have received their training and certificates, they will integrate the technology they have learned into their classrooms and share the skills they have mastered with their colleagues.
