Candace Fleming

We are happy to announce that author Candace Fleming will be visiting with our ELA-8 students in Thatcher Hall on Friday, April 22!

Candace Fleming awarded herself the Newbery Medal in fifth grade after scraping the gold sticker off the class copy of "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" and pasting it onto her first novel—a 10-page, 10-chapter mystery called "Who Done It?" She’s been collecting awards (her own, not Elizabeth George Speare’s) ever since.

Today, Candace is the versatile and acclaimed author of more than 20 books for children and young adults, including the
Los Angeles Times Book Prize honored "The Family Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, and the Fall of the Russian Empire;" Boston Globe/Horn Book Award-winning biography, "The Lincolns;" the bestselling picture book, "Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!;" and the beloved "Boxes for Katje."

In preparation for her visit, the library services department is taking orders for her books. If you would like to pre-order any of her books, please CLICK HERE and indicate the quantity you wish to purchase beside each title. You will then be prompted to provide your credit card information. All book orders are due by the end of the school day on Friday, April 8.
Pre-ordered books will be signed by the author on the day of the visit and then will be distributed to your child that afternoon.
