Darlington junior Lauri Hacklin of Coosa Junior Golf Academy finished fourth in his age group in an IMG Junior Golf Tour event, held Feb. 16-17 at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga. He competed in the Boys 15-18 division.
"We are extremely proud of Lauri's performance," said Leanne Mann, operations director for Coosa Junior Golf Academy. "IMG is an incredibly competitive program, so to have Lauri place among the top performers speaks volumes about his talent and about the quality of our Golf Academy program. This was a challenging course with challenging weather conditions, but Lauri was not fazed. He played like a champ."
This was the second consecutive year for the IMG Junior Tour to tee off at Savannah Harbor, but cold and windy conditions made scoring a challenge. Wind gusts reached as high as 35 miles per hour and the temperature dipped to a frigid 31 degrees at the start of play on Sunday. However, the conditions did not stop a full field of 84 players from 13 states and 14 different countries from hitting the links.
Fellow Golf Academy members junior Benedict Scherer and sophomore Ben Tortorice finished 25th and 47th, respectively, in the Boys 15-18 division. Freshman Alex Russell came in 13th in Boys 11-14. Junior Peyton Albertson and sophomore Moana Kubo came in 21st and 20th, respectively, in Girls 15-18.
The event was held at The Club at Savannah Harbor, ranked by Golfweek as the No. 7 course you can play in the State of Georgia. The Club plays host to the Champions Tour Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf every April. The event was ranked by the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings, Junior Golf Scoreboard and AJGA Performance Based Entry Status was awarded to top finishers.
