The Lower School's Mock Election didn't focus on the 2012 candidates, but instead on the process itself. Author-illustrator Brian Pinkney is visiting the Lower School this month and Darlington used his characters "Sukey" (Sukey and the Mermaid) and "Thomas" (The Boy and the Ghost) in its election. The two ran against one another in the White and Purple parties. Students in grades 3 and 4 identified the candidates' character values and invented platforms based on actions within the stories. In the end, Purple Party candidate Thomas was victorious.
