A recent AT&T survey indicates that 97% of teens know texting while driving is dangerous, 43% of them admit to sending a text while driving, and 75% say the practice is common among their friends. That's why AT&T has launced a public awareness campaign to help raise awareness about the risks of texting and driving. The purpose of the intiative is to remind all wireless consumers, but especially our youth, that when it comes to driving a vehicle, all text messages can, and should, wait.

Texting Tips:
  • Be smart. Don't text and drive. No text is worth a life.
  • Be in control. It's your phone and your decision when to send an recieve texts.
  • Be caring. Don't send a text when you know your family member, friend or co-worker is driving.
  • Be Focused. Never use your phone to take pictures, send and/or read messages, record videos, or watch TV while driving.
  • Be an example. 77% of teens say adults tell them not to text and drive, but do it themselves. Be a good role model and lead by example.
  • Be Proactive: Take the pledge and commit to never text and drive: www.itcanwait.com
  • Be Aware: Explore new apps like AT&T DriveMode for Android and BlackBerry smartphones. Soon to be available for iPhones.
