Five members of the varsity baseball team received All-Area honors, with Cole Miller ('12) selected as Co-Player of the Year and Kent Harrison ('01) as Co-Coach of the Year. The Tigers were named Co-Team of the Year after making it to the Elite Eight.
Cole Miller, a rising senior, earned Co-Player of the Year honors alongside Coosa’s Mason Hamilton, Calhoun’s Josh Schubert and Adairsville’s Cody Kremer. Miller broke the single-season home run record at Darlington with 14 despite being walked 44 times. He batted .434 and had nine doubles, 15 steals and 42 runs scored during the Tigers’ magical season. He is the son of Lynda and Doug Miller of Cave Spring, Ga.
Brad Butler, a rising junior, led the area with a .515 batting average in the leadoff spot for Darlington. He was constantly on base with 49 total hits, 16 walks and 16 steals. He scored 48 runs. He is the son of Lisa and Rhett Butler of Rome.
Lee Couch ('11) was the team leader in RBIs with 43 and hits with 50. He batted .471 with nine doubles, five triples and four home runs. He was also a pest on the bases for opposing teams, stealing 15 bases and scoring 39 runs. He is the son of Chrisy Couch of Cedartown, Ga., and Tony Couch, also of Cedartown.
Alec Redden, a rising junior, was another big bat in the middle of the Darlington lineup, hitting .423 with 39 RBIs. He had 44 total hits, including seven home runs and nine doubles. He also stole 15 bases. He is the son of Leah and Keith Redden of Cedartown, Ga.
Jack Stevens ('11) was a perfect 9-0 on the mound with a 2.67 ERA before injuring his arm late in the season. He threw four complete games and had 53 strikeouts. At the plate, he hit .404 with nine homers and 34 RBIs. He is the son of Laura and Dr. Jay Stevens of Kingston, Ga.
