Outstanding athletes in baseball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track and field were recognized at the Spring Sports Assembly Monday, May 2, in Morris Chapel. Golf awards were presented the following week.
In baseball:
Junior Cole Miller of Cave Spring, Ga., received the Scholar-Athlete Award and the Coach's Award.
Senior Lee Couch of Cedartown, Ga., was named Most Improved.
Senior Jack Stevens of Kingston, Ga., was named MVP.
In lacrosse:
Senior Cliff Knight and junior Anna Grace Rutledge of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Freshmen Thomas Gilbert and Garrett Morgan and sophomore Mary Lyn Stegall, all of Rome, were named Most Improved.
Senior Shelby Weitzel of Kingston, Ga., received the Coach's Award.
Sophomore Zack McConnell of Rome received the Founders Award.
Seniors William Gilbert and Chandler Holcombe of Rome were named MVPs.
In soccer:
Seniors Scarlett Sumner and Lucas Jennings of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Freshman Amita Reddy of Rome were named Most Improved.
Seniors Anna Shea and Owen Greeson, both of Rome, were named MVPs.
Senior Austin Mansour of Cartersville, Ga., received the Coach's Award.
Greeson, Mansour and seniors Rachael Turrentine and Margaret Hjort of Rome received Captain Awards.
In tennis:
Junior Keenan Freyberg of Rome and senior Ali Harton of Cartersville, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Senior Preston Cobb of Canton, Ga., and freshman Sarah Cait Hubbard of Rome were named MVPs.
Freyberg and senior Jacquelyn Johnson of Rome received a Coach's Award.
In track and field:
Junior Ansley McDurmon and senior Jessie Baker of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Sophomore Remy Jennings and junior Ivy Duggan of Rome were named Most Improved.
Junior Darlene Chikezie of Joensboro, Ga., and senior Christopher Griffin of Rome received Coach's Awards.
Baker and junior Paige Banks of Atlanta, Ga.; senior Anna Swafford of Dallas, Ga.; and junior Cam Collins of Calhoun, Ga., were named MVPs.
In golf:
Senior Jack Kelly of Rome, junior Annie Klopp of Marietta, Ga., and senior Eiken Hansen of Rangsdorf/Brandenburg, Germany, received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Sophomore Ryan Haley of Rome and freshman Maggie Ashmore of Kingston, Ga., were named Most Improved.
Kelly and Hansen received Captain's Awards.
Kelly and freshman Hannah Mae Deems of Taylorsville, Ga., were named MVPs.
