Take Advantage of Your Darlington Connection

One of the perks of being a Darlington alumna/nus and living in Rome or the surrounding areas is that you are always welcome on campus!  Many of our local alumni take advantage of the opportunity to come to events and utilize Darlington’s facilities.

If you haven’t taken advantage of this perk we’d like to encourage you to join us Wednesday evening, February 9, for a very special occasion.  Noted author and world-class athlete Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind man in history to reach the summit of Mount Everest, will be speaking in the Van Es Arena in the Huffman Center at 6:30 p.m.  This event is open to the public and should be an inspiring experience.  Weinhenmayer will also be speaking to the entire Middle and Upper School student body on Thursday morning, February 10 at 9 a.m. in the same location.  If you can’t join us on Wednesday evening, you are welcome to come Thursday morning.

This morning, I had the pleasure of showing a young alumnus and his bride-to-be the Morris Chapel as a possible location for their upcoming wedding.  This is just another perk of being a Darlington alumnus.  The Morris Chapel is a beautiful location for a wedding and is available to rent for Darlington alumni and their families.

Also this month, the Fine Arts Department is presenting Disney’s musical “Beauty and the Beast” at the Rome City Auditorium on February 18, 19, 20.  All alumni are invited to join us for this fabulous production!  You will be amazed at the talent of our students.  Tickets are available online at www.darlingtonschool.org/musical or at Kroger, Traditions of Rome or any of the division offices at Darlington.

I encourage you to take advantage of your Darlington connection. Visit the campus, stroll the grounds, come to events and keep in touch with us!
