Student-athletes recognized at Fall Sports Assembly

Outstanding athletes in varsity cheerleading, football, cross country, softball, volleyball and crew were recognized at the Fall Sports Assembly Dec. 6 in Morris Chapel.

In competition cheerleading:


Junior Mary Bailey Jones of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Seniors Lauren O’Neal of Rome and Chelsea Winfrey of Atlanta received Captains’ Awards.

In crew:

Senior Alissa Schlosberg of Kennesaw, Ga., and junior Keenan Freyberg of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Senior Felicity Witt of Rome and sophomore David Ethridge of Calhoun, Ga., were named MVPs.

Sophomores O’Keefe Johnson and Saahil Patel, both of Rome, received Coaches' Awards.

Sophomore Virginia Summer and freshman Wil Taylor, both of Rome, were named Most Improved.

In cross country:

Juniors Ansley McDurmon and Jesse Baker, both of Rome, received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Sophomore Alex Cox of Rome was named Most Improved.

Senior Lucas Jennings of Rome received the Coaches’ Award.

Freshman Bethany Cagle of Rome; sophomore Remy Jennings of Rome; juniors Lindsay Evans and Ansley McDurmon of Rome; and seniors Jesse Baker of Rome, Joy Diaz of Riverdale, Ga., Margaret Hjort of Rome, and Anna Shea of Rome were named co-MVPs.

In football:

Junior Chase Tolbert of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

In softball:

Senior Tricia Groover of Calhoun, Ga., received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Freshman Maggie Ashmore of Kingston, Ga., was named Most Improved.

Freshman Morgan Sidwell of Rome received the Coach’s Award.

Senior Anna Swafford of Dallas, Ga., was named MVP.

In volleyball:

Senior Scarlett Sumner of Cave Spring, Ga., received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Seniors Stephanie Huskins of Silver Creek, Ga., and Bonnie Grace Tillman of Rome received Coaches’ Awards.

Junior Carrie Simon of Rome was named MVP.
