Student-athletes recognized at Fall Sports Assembly

Outstanding athletes in varsity cheerleading, football, cross country, softball, volleyball and crew were recognized at the Fall Sports Assembly Dec. 7 in Morris Chapel.

In competition cheerleading:


Senior Hannah Montgomery of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award and a Captain's Award.

Senior Payton Payne of Rome also received a Captain's Award.

In cross country:

Juniors Margaret Hjort and Lucas Jennings, both of Rome, received Scholar-Athlete Awards and Captain's Awards.

Junior Owen Greeson of Rome also received a Captain's Award.

Sophomores Lindsay Evans of Rome and Cam Collins of Calhoun received Coaches' Awards.

Sophomore Ansley McDurmon and Jesse Baker, both of Rome, were named MVP.

In football:

Senior A.J. White of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Senior Will Lester of Kiawah Island, S.C., was named Most Improved.

In softball:

Junior Abbie Brewster of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Senior Lexi Maxwell of Naples, Fla., was named Most Improved.

Freshman T Stewart of Summerville, Ga., received the Coach's Award.

Junior Anna Swafford of Dallas, Ga., was named MVP.

In volleyball:

Senior Jaclyn Brass of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award and a Coach's Award.

Senior Emily Braden of Rome also received a Coach's Award.

Braden and senior Ali Harton of Rome were named co-MVPs.

In crew:

Juniors Alissa Schlosberg of Kennesaw, Ga., and Chad Collins of Lithonia, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Schlosberg and senior Charlie Breen of Rome were named MVPs.

Freshman Tabitha Stephens of Rome and senior Kent Caraway of Kingston, Ga., received Coaches' Awards.

Sophomores Marissa McKoy and Xavier Welch, both of Rome, were named Most Improved.
