Darlington families are invited to join Chairman of the World Languages Department and Upper School Spanish teacher Jim Linos on a nine-day spring break trip to Madrid and Paris March 6-14.
“I am very excited to have this opportunity to show students and parents the highlights of these two beautiful European capitals,” said Linos, who has led this trip two times previously. “Further, it is a real chance for the students to explore the cultures and practice the languages they have been studying. Travelers will see in Madrid a culture that appeals greatly to young and old Americans while visiting the Royal Palace, the Prado, the Plaza Mayor and Toledo. Paris, of course, is well-known for Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe. We will see all of it while traveling like real parisiens and madrilènes on the city metros, national trains and on foot – always with a 24/7 guide who is ready to further broaden our understanding of the ‘Old World.’ This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Europe in a way few will ever get to see it.”
The trip will depart from Atlanta on Saturday, March 6, and arrive in Madrid the following day. Travelers will spend the next day sightseeing with an optional flamenco dinner and show in the evening. Day four will feature an excursion to El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen, while day five includes an excursion to Toledo and an overnight train ride to Paris. In Paris, the group will spend the next three days visiting landmarks such as Versailles, Notre Dame, the Bateaux-Mouches, the Loire Valley (optional) and the Eiffel Tower (ascent and dinner optional). The nine-day adventure will end March 14 with a flight out of Paris.
Cost is $2,943 per person, which includes roundtrip airfare, transportation, accommodations, most group activities and meals, and services of a full-time courier provided by Passports Educational Travel.
