Twelve eighth-grade students were inducted as peer helpers during a ceremony held Thursday, Sept. 27 in Morris Chapel.
Inductees include Keenan Freyberg, Rosie White, Haley Cooper, Kelsey Ann Williams, Sean Healy, Ansley McDurmon, Matt Goldin, Meredith Gaffney, John Wilhoite, Michael Williams, Anna Forrister and Jordan Hutchins.
“The Peer Helpers are a group of well-respected eighth-graders who lead by example,” said Melissa Robinson, Middle School counselor. “These students are asked to reach out to their peers who may be struggling and to help around the Middle School in various ways.”
Peer Helper responsibilities include serving as a buddy for new students, collecting recyclables on a weekly basis, working on the outdoor classroom, contributing articles to the Rome News-Tribune’s Young Romans section, and organizing fun events and community service projects for the student body.
