LaGrange College visit on Tuesday, October 1 during office hours in the College Guidance Office

Darlington School Chapter of the National Honor Society Information


Grades > 9-12

The Darlington School Chapter of the National Honor Society will invite junior and senior students who meet all academic requirements to apply for induction starting September 27, 2024.

Students who are invited to apply will have attended Darlington School for a minimum of one semester, have at least junior status, and have no discipline or honor violations on record.

The following GPA requirements must also be met to be considered eligible for National Honor Society:

Students in grade 11: Overall average of 93 or above

Students in grade 12: Overall average of 90 or above

In addition, students must have successfully completed the following courses to be eligible:

Students in grade 11: 4 AP/Honors courses successfully completed

Students in grade 12: 6 AP/Honors courses successfully completed

The selection criteria for NHS will be based on a point system that evaluates students' performance according to the four criteria: scholarship, character, leadership, and service. In addition, points are awarded for students' extra-curricular activities, paid or non-paid work and a faculty recommendation. In order to be accepted students must obtain a total of 14 points with at least 1 point in service and 1 point in leadership. 

Students who are invited to apply must complete the application by 5:00 pm on October 4, 2024.

Blazer Fitting


Grades > 9-12

Uniform Source will be in the Dodd Banquet room on Wednesday, October 2 from 11:30-1:15 for a blazer fitting. This will be the only time blazers will be available on campus. Blazers are required beginning November 1.

Girls Middle School Lacrosse


Grades > Pre-K to 8

We are so excited to offer a middle school girls lacrosse team this year at Darlington! There is no experience necessary to play as we are just starting this program. Any middle school girl in grades 6th-8th who is interested in playing lacrosse this Spring will need to fill out the Google Form below by October 18th so that we can adequately prepare for games and equipment needs. If you are interested and have questions, please email Coach Collier at mcollier@darlingtonschool.org.

Sign up for the Governor's Honors Program (GHP)


Grades > 9-12

Please see the video in the link to learn more about the Governor's Honors Program (GHP).  This is a 5-week academic residential summer program.  The program usually goes from mid-June to mid-July.  If you are interested, please get in contact with Chad Woods to sign up.  The last day to sign up will be Friday, October 4th.  If more than 10 students sign up, then the Darlington GHP committee will interview all students and select the 10 nominees.  Mr. Woods will need your name and area you are interested in.

Yes, you can sign up for more than one, but understand that you may miss a session or two due to conflicts. There is more information for each club below. CLUB INFORMATION

Girls Who Code for 1st and 2nd Grade Girls!

Starting Tuesday, October 1, 2024, we will offer an exciting after-school program focused on technology and coding challenges for 1st and 2nd-grade girls. (An additional opportunity for all 1st and 2nd graders will be available in the next after-school program rotation.) This program will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM, through Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Our goal is to provide students with a creative, hands-on environment where they can explore technology, develop problem-solving skills, and collaborate with their peers. Senior Linda Pan will also be working with the girls, sharing her passion for coding as part of her Senior Ventures project to inspire the next generation of “Girls Who Code.”

Here are some key details about the program:

Students: Open to 1st and 2nd grade girls.
Student Capacity: Maximum of 14 students, due to the number of robots available. This ensures all participants have a meaningful, hands-on experience.
Dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday from October 1 to November 7 [12 sessions].
Time: 3:15 PM - 4:00 PM.
Location: Thatcher Hall 3-5 Science Lab. Mrs. Lynn will meet students at the Cottages after school and escort them to the science lab.
Pick-Up: Mrs. Lynn will escort students back to the Cottages at 4:00 PM, where they can either stay for extended care or be picked up at that time.
Cost: $48.

Teach Me Tennis for 1st to 5th

We are excited to announce that the Teach Me Tennis program will return this year, led by Coach Eberhart. The program aims to introduce the game of tennis to students in grades 1-5 in a fun, low-stress environment. Each session will focus on basic skill development through fun competitions and gameplay.

Offered through Rome’s “Teach Me Tennis” program, this experience will culminate in a tournament on November 17th, where students will compete against other local elementary schools.

Please note that all registrations must be completed through the “Teach Me Tennis” website, and each registration includes a tennis racquet.

Students: Open to 1st to 5th grade students
Dates:  Nov 1, 5, 8, 12, 14, 15, and 17.
Time: 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM.
Location: Darlington Tennis Courts
Pick-Up: Parents should plan on picking up their child at 4:15 at the Darlington Tennis Courts. If your child can not be picked up by 4:20, they will be escorted to Extended Day, which does have a fee.
Cost: $55

Berry Pumpkin Race Training for 2nd - 5th

Coach Eberhart will be getting our 2nd - 5th grade runners ready for the Berry Pumpkin Race on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm. This after-school club will have 4 practices and then the race on October 29th. This club is only for those that will race on October 29th. 

If you want to just race, but don't want to do the practices, please do the following…

1. Email Chris Eberhart @ ceberhart@darlingtonschool.org

2. Pay the $7 entry fee. Make check out to Darlington School or cash.

3. Fill out the "waiver" and return it with the money by October 17th to Chris Eberhart.

The fee of $24 will cover the 4 sessions and the entry fee for the Berry Pumpkin Race. 

Please note that parent pickup for Running Club will be at the side door of Thatcher Hall at 4:05 pm. If your child is not picked up, he or she will be escorted to Extended Day, which does have a cost associated with it.

Advanced Chorus for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade! 

In this exciting group, students have the chance to explore their love of singing while developing their vocal skills and musical knowledge. We’ll dive into a variety of genres, learn to harmonize, and perform together as a team. Whether they are a seasoned singer or just starting out, everyone is welcome to join us on this musical journey. Students will have the ability to express themselves, make new friends, and create beautiful music with their classmates. 

Grade Levels: Open to students in 3rd through 5th grades.

Student Capacity: Maximum of 40 students, but if interest exceeds that number we will be open to increasing the maximum. 

Dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday (besides school holidays) starting from October 1st and ending December 17th. 

Time: 3:15 PM - 4:00pm 

Location: Thatcher Hall Music Room 

Pick-Up: Ms. Dunn will escort students to the front of Thatcher at 4:00 pm, remaining students will be escorted to extended day in the cottages. 

Cost: $10

Starting Monday, September 30, 2024, we will offer an exciting after-school program focused on technology projects and challenges. This program will be available every Monday and Wednesday from 3:15 PM until 4:30 PM, continuing through Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

Our goal is to provide students with a creative, hands-on environment where they can explore technology, develop problem-solving skills, and collaborate with their peers. Below are the key details:

Grade Levels: Open to students in 3rd through 5th grades.

Student Capacity: Maximum of 20 students due to the number of robots available, ensuring every participant has a meaningful hands-on experience.

Dates: Every Monday and Wednesday from September 30 to November 13 (except for Fall Conference Day, 10/9, and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, 10/14) — [12 sessions].

Time: 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM.

Location: Thatcher Hall 3-5 Science Lab.

Pick-Up: Mrs. Lynn will escort all students to the front entrance of Thatcher Hall at 4:30 PM. Students not picked up by 4:35 PM will be escorted to the cottages for extended day care.

Cost: $72.

Lacrosse Club for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades!

Through Darlington’s Senior Ventures Program, we are excited to offer an after-school lacrosse program led by Senior Brecken Laliberte. Beginning Monday, October 7th, 2024, this exciting program will focus on the fundamentals of lacrosse and run every Monday and Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:15 PM through Wednesday, November 13th.

Our goal is to provide students with an informative and engaging lacrosse experience, helping each student-athlete improve their skills and teamwork abilities. Students will learn key techniques such as cradling, scooping, passing, catching, and shooting, and will incorporate these skills into fun, interactive games. Below are the key details:

  • Grade Levels: Open to students in 3rd through 5th grade.
  • Student Capacity: Limited to 20 students due to available equipment, ensuring each participant gets hands-on experience. Both boys and girls are welcome.
  • Dates: The program runs every Monday and Wednesday after school from October 7th to November 13th (excluding Fall Conference Day on 10/9 and Indigenous Peoples' Day on 10/14). A total of 10 sessions.
  • Time: 3:15 - 4:15 PM.
  • Location: Thatcher Field.
  • Pick-Up: Mr. Leezer will escort students to the side entrance of Thatcher Hall at 4:15 PM each day. Any students not picked up by 4:20 PM will be taken to the cottages for extended daycare, which incurs an additional fee.
  • Cost: $50.

School Portraits Ready for Purchase


Grades > Pre-K to 12

Picture Day for both divisions has concluded, and your children's official portraits for the 2024-2025 school year are now available for purchase!

As we did last year, we will use SmugMug for portrait ordering and distribution. The link can be found at https://darlingtonschool.smugmug.com/

Once you navigate to the site, complete the following steps to find your child’s portrait:

  1. Click the folder that contains photos for the 2024-2025 school year.

  2. Click your child’s grade level.

  3. Find your child and select his or her portrait (students are listed alphabetically by last name).

  4. Choose which way you would like to buy the photo (digital file, physical photos, etc.) – There are many sizes available, and you can buy as many as you would like.

  5. If you have multiple children at Darlington, you may buy multiple portraits by navigating back to the home screen and following the above instructions to add multiple children’s portraits to your cart.

NOTE: Purchased photos will be printed without the watermark.

Additionally, if you did not have the chance to purchase your student’s portrait last year, those portraits, along with 2023-2024 sports pictures, are available for purchase, as well!
