Important information for students participating in Darlington’s AP program:

  • All students taking an Advanced Placement class are required to take the AP Exam.
  • Any student taking an AP Exam is exempt from sitting for an exam during exam week.
  • Any student who misses the AP Exam for a reason other than those approved by The College Board will be subject to a reduction in the semester average of at least 10 points and must take an end of semester class exam. Any student who misses the AP Exam for an approved College Board reason should expect to take a late AP exam the third week of AP testing.
  • AP Exams are paid for during the fall online registration.
  • Darlington School will order all exams by The College Board’s Preadministration Ordering deadline. Any additional exam requests must be submitted to the AP Coordinator and approved by the Upper School Director two weeks prior to this date in order to be considered.
  • All students must attend one preadministration session. Session dates and times will be advertised on the Announcements page on the website at least one week before the sessions take place. Failure to attend this mandatory preadministration session may compromise that student sitting for the AP Exam(s).
  • Students who are scheduled to take two exams on the same day at the same time will be allowed to take one of these exams during The College Board’s late-testing week.
  • Students who have three exams on the same day may choose to take one of these exams during The College Board’s late-testing week.
  • Students who qualify for extended testing are required to pay $100 once each year to cover the extra proctor fees incurred by Darlington.
  • Students who wish to take an AP Exam for a course that we do not offer must get prior approval from the appropriate department chair and the Upper School Director prior to the AP Preadministration Ordering deadline.
