Upper School Math Teacher - Long Term Substitute


The Mathematics Department at Darlington School seeks a long term substitute teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.  The anticipated start date is mid-September and the duration could be through December. This educator would join a dynamic environment of teaching professionals who are continuously growing and collaborating.  The candidate must be open to learning from his/her colleagues and is comfortable sharing ideas and collaborating with his/her colleagues.  The candidate must also demonstrate fluency and extensive knowledge of important concepts in the discipline and how they relate to other areas of school.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have classroom teaching experience and a background in mathematics. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach five sections of Upper School math (Algebra 2 Honors and Precalculus)
  • Commit to improving students’ critical thinking and logical reasoning skills
  • Provide multiple methods of assessment that demonstrate knowledge, skill, and understanding
  • Deliver clear instruction and differentiate according to diverse student needs
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Convey a genuine enthusiasm for mathematics
  • Use assessment results to plan and adjust future instruction
  • Make use of available technology
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health and learning problems
  • Promote a positive, supportive, and collaborative school culture
  • Support a small group of junior students twice a week during advisement 
  • Lead an iPeriod twice a week (an exploratory period chosen by students) 

The position is expected to begin mid September 2025 and run through mid December 2025.
