As a connection to our study of plants in science, third-graders took the annual journey to B.J. Reece Orchards in beautiful Ellijay to pick fresh Georgia-grown apples. We toured the apple processing facility, visited with animals at the petting farm, slid on the giant slide, played in the corn box, ate a picnic lunch, drank fresh apple cider, enjoyed a tractor ride around the orchard, picked apples and played on the jumping pillow. We even got to race on the new human hamster wheels! Our day ended with time to shop in the farm market and bakery.
