Trebus named January Student of the Month

Senior Jake Trebus has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for January.

A day student who has been enrolled at Darlington since middle school, Trebus has taken 16 Honors and AP classes and is a day leader in Neville House. He is a member of National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and also plays football and soccer. He played basketball for three years.

"Jake Trebus is what you might call a throwback, or a little bit old school. He would never boast about his straight As, how he is a leader in Neville House, or that he is more than willing to throw his body into harm's way in order to catch a pass over the middle for his team," said Dean of Student Life Brant Evans, Trebus's advisor. "He will simply let the results speak for themselves. If you don't know him, you should get to. He is a young man of character, he has a wonderful sense of humor, and encountering him and his humble charisma will often leave you feeling like your day got just a little bit better."

The son of Melissa and Stephen Smyly of Rome and Jessica and Thomas Trebus of Atlanta, Jake will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Jan. 9.
