A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.
Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.
Let’s get to know Bradley Smith, a 10-year day student from Rome and accomplished pianist.
When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
I live here.
What song reminds you of high school?
“The Scientist” - Coldplay
What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Breaking Bad”
What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Either Chick-fil-A or Chef Chen; I can live off of those two.
What house are you a member of?
Summerbell
What are you involved in at Darlington?
I have done a lot of music performance stuff, especially piano. I also love coaching and training at the weight room in the Huffman Athletic Center. But most importantly, I love being with the boys over at Summerbell House.
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
It has to be Coach McDurmon. He's the easy choice because his practices were so hard.
If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
I love performing the piano for others; being able to soak my time into practicing allows me to feel accomplished after performing.
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
Easily the boys’ dorm. I would say the dining hall, but there's no wifi over there.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Some of the most memorable teachers I've had are Mr. Harvey, Mr. McDurmon, Mrs. Smyly, Ms. Haynes and Mr. Shorey. All of these teachers have helped me with becoming a better student and classmate.
What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The people are the best part of Darlington; from all of the friends, faculty, and facilities that we have here, I am thankful that our community is as great as it is.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS is truly a time I could never have somewhere else. Also, I would have never gotten the chance to practice on a grand piano in a chapel with the most grand acoustics.
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
Besides my height, I have been able to develop my own identity that I can share with all of my current and future friends.
What is your dream job?
I'm not sure what job I want yet, but I know I want a job!
